If there is one area of your life you
need to improve on, Yoga can do it for you. It feels strange that
an exercise routine can help you do that, but yes it can. Yoga can
help to improve your marriage, health, physical and mental fitness, game
of sport, confidence, persona, and just about everything else. I
called it nature's mechanic to help you tweak your mind, body and soul.
When your mind and body is tuned, the
result you get is performance beyond imagination. In every aspect
of our lives, we have been contaminated one way or the other by modern
day living.
If there is a how-to book or owner's manual for every human being, it
would be the yoga sutras. For yoga came not from the creations of
man, but from the Divine. Through deep states of meditation
centuries ago, the yogis of India were able to document the yoga sutras
and deliver them to mankind. The effects of that have been seen
and felt by millions of people throughout the ages. When your mind
believes the limitations that the world imposed on you and your body
suffer the effects of that beliefs, your saviour is yoga, for it not
only heal and get you back a healthy mind and body, but develop them to
their fullest potential as well.
But the curse of humans is one of not
taking action. We give excuses of not having enough time to set
aside for yoga or any other worthy endeavor. We procrastinate and
let our destiny be ruled by chance. Do we even realize what 30
minutes of yoga can potentially do to our lives? It can be the
difference between living in a crummy apartment and a villa, driving a
Pinto and a Rolls-Royce, or marrying a pauper and a Prince. The
difference can be that astounding.
So how can yoga improve on each area of
you life today? Well, the first step is not to be overwhelmed by the
massive information on yoga and the many poses or body postures that may
seem to be beyond your grasp. Like any other lofty endeavor you
may set yourself up upon, the way to do it is to take one small step at
a time, and build it up to a point where each pose, posture or practice,
becomes a symphony in itself which you can do gracefully. When
your body feels the gracefulness, it affects the way you feel,
communicate, work, think and it magnetizes your character and habits to
a point where everything that you do is magical.
In a gist, this is the basic benefits of
yoga that we all know:
STRENGTHEN and
TONE every major muscle in your body.
Build your CORE STRENGTH.
Dramatically increase your
FLEXIBILITY, head to toe.
Improve your BALANCE
and POSTURE.
Burn FAT.
Give your CARDIOVASCULAR
system a healthy workout.
Improve your MENTAL FOCUS.
And literally melt away
STRESS.
But I am a big believer of doing 30
minutes of quick yoga daily or every alternate day instead of just 2
hours on the weekends. The yogis practiced yoga in the Himalayas
every minute of everyday for a blissful life. But of course the
yogis didn't have a job or mouths to feed like we do today. We
have to pay rent or mortgage because we are not living in a cave.
But we still can do a little bit of yoga each day to develop our
strength of mind and body. It is not what you do once in a while
that bring in the results but what you constantly do daily. I am
sure you have heard similar statements before and it applies to yoga
as well.
But the great thing about yoga is
that you can take it along with you wherever you go. You can do
a short 30 minute flowing routine at
home, on the beach, in your office or hotel room – wherever, and
whenever, it fits YOUR schedule! I
